Tensile and abrasion resistance are particularly critical factors affecting the process performance and end-use of injected slub yarn. Slubs are created by injecting fibres from the outside side of the yarn while untwisting the base yarn and then re-twisting after injecting the fibres in a single base injected slub yarn structure. Slub parameters influence the tensile characteristics and abrasion resistance of injected slub yarns. Due to a lack of fibre migration between base yarn fibres and injected fibres, the yarn’s surface, particularly the slub section, is extremely vulnerable to abrasion during use.
