Jacquard is a fabric having a finely variegated or
raised pattern that is woven into the cloth rather than
printed onto it, as opposed to other patterned fabrics.

Detailed Information
A jacquard is woven on a loom with a head that raises
each warp thread (the thread that remains fixed while
the weft is dragged through it) independently of the
others. The weaver may interlace up to several hundred
warp threads on a jacquard loom, allowing for endless
pattern possibilities. A jacquard weave may be created
using several colour threads, producing intricate
gradations and patterns—landscapes, portraits, and other
distinctive themes are all conceivable. While creating a
jacquard weave takes longer, the end result is a
stretchier and more stable cloth than standard weaving
offers. The kind of fibres employed in the weave
ultimately determines the drape and durability of the
completed jacquard.
