Detailed Information
Metallic fibres are frequently used with other materials
to create a decorative appearance. Knitting yarns,
trimmings, and ribbons, as well as knitwear, evening
gowns, swimsuits, and neckties, and home furnishings
like curtains, upholstery, and tablecloths, all use
similar combinations. Automobile upholstery, theatre
curtains, and radio and television set grilles are all
examples of industrial usage.
There are two common manufacturing techniques:
- Laminating Method:
It is the most often used method for making metallic yarn. Aluminum is made up of two layers of acetate or polyester in this process. Metallic yarn of this type is coloured by either dyeing the metallic filament or dyeing polyester or acetate films.
- Metalizing method:
The metal is heated to the point of vaporisation. When the metal vaporises, it is deposited under high pressure on the Polyester film.Using this method, yarn is: Thinner, more flexible, and long-lasting.

- Electrical Conductivity / Electro-Magnetic Shielding
- Heat Resistance and Strength
- Light weight and relatively inexpensive yarns
- Corrosion Resistance
- Flexibility (compared to wire or steel wool textile structures)
- Weldability
Multi-filament metal fibre yarns can be twisted
or wrapped with textile yarns to produce
composite yarns. These yarns are suitable for
cut resistant apparel items, antistatic brushes
for business machines, lightning strike
protection and antistatic filter bags.
